Father of the Bride Wedding Speech - Sample Two:

As you all know, I am the father of the bride. This is a day that I have been planning and anticipating just as much as the happy couple here. As the father, of course I have had many mixed feelings about this wedding. This is my youngest daughter Karen that has got married today. Every father feels a special feeling when their youngest daughter leaves them and begins to rely on another man. In this case, there could be no better man to take my place than the man my daughter has chosen. Mike is a man that I have grown to like over the years of their dating relationship. He is a great man; I could not have chosen a better man for my daughter to spend the rest of her life with.

When I first met Mike, I may not have shown my life of him. I played the typical father role when Karen first brought Mike home to meet her mother and I. I decided to be the tough father and maybe scare Mike just a little bit. For some reason I felt that this would make him think twice about hurting my baby girl! This was just a silly father’s way of thinking of course. It would have worked if Karen would not have been reassuring this boy. It was better off; I would have missed out on creating a great relationship with a great man.

My daughter has always made me proud with everything she has ever done. She has developed into a successful and intelligent woman, a father could not want anymore than this. Karen has always made great choices and we have always had a great relationship through the years. I guess you could say that she is a Daddy’s Girl. I love my daughter with all my heart and I could not be happier for her.

The ceremony today was beautiful and it could not have gone any smoother than it did. I was a little choked up walking Karen down the aisle, but it made me feel a that much better leaving her in the arms of a man who I know will love and cherish her for the rest of her life. As I sat in the front row and watched my daughter pledge her love for this man, any worries that I may have had were gone. Even I, the father, could see the love in her eyes. True love is hard to come by and I am glad to see that my daughter has found it.

I think that it helps growing up with her mother and I. We have also been lucky to find a great love that we both share for each other. We have been married for almost 45years now and it seems just like yesterday that her and I were sitting at the head table on our special day.

I want you two to know that this day will be fresh in your memory for the rest of your lives. A wedding day is something that you will always remember, especially one as gorgeous as the one that we witnesses today.

I suppose I should take this time to welcome Mike into our family. I hope that he has already felt welcomed into this family but I want to do it officially in front of everyone here today. Mike, no matter what you thought from our first few meetings, I have always liked you. You are a great man and I am happy that you are going to spend the rest of your life with my daughter and as my new son. I have three daughters and I am excited for another man to join this family full of women! I’ve been feeling a little overwhelmed these past few years, now you can help me even out the teams! Mike you take care of my daughter. I know that you will, but I need to add that in anyways!

One last time, congratulations you two! I have never seen my daughter as happy as she is today and this tells me how the rest of her life will be. As father of the bride I want to thank everyone for their help and attendance to this fantastic day in my daughter’s life. All the work does not seem like it was work at all now that the day has come and it was as perfect as it possibly could be. Cheers to the happy couple!
